FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the booking process?

A: CD Makeup Artistry requires a contract signature and a 50% deposit of the bridal package cost or client’s total cost for reserving your event day. The contract will overview all of the details of the deposit, payments, terms and expectations for booking. After the contract is sent, the bride or client will have 48 hours to sign, date it and pay the retainer before the event date becomes open.

Q: Is a makeup trial necessary and what should I expect at the trial run?

A: Although a makeup trial run is not required, it is highly recommended! This is the time for you to lock down your wedding day makeup look and truly envision the final result, to get to know Charity as an artist, to aid in efficiency for your big day and even to try different aspects in your look. It is recommended to book your trial 4-8 weeks before your wedding date. You’ll allow about 90 minutes for a consultation reviewing photos, color tones, makeup inspiration and expectations, makeup application and deciphering on any modifications after the makeup is finished. Charity can travel to your location (travel fees may apply), or host from her home in Richfield, MN.

Q: What will my wedding day look like?

A: The number of services and day’s timeline will be discussed beforehand to ensure an appropriate start time. If a day of schedule exists, this should be sent to CD Makeup Artistry preceding your wedding date. CD Makeup Artistry will arrive 20 minutes prior to start time to get fully set up. Everyone is expected to arrive on time with clean skin (free of any makeup residue), that is prepped lightly with moisturizer. Payment is expected immediately after each service is complete. After the entire party’s makeup completion, touch ups may be assessed if necessary or if time allows. The bride is always the first priority!

Q: How long will the makeup last?

A: Your makeup look should last you the duration of the day! CD Makeup Artistry uses an impeccable long wearing base with appropriate skin prep and setting methods to ensure your makeup stays flawless into the evening. Most all makeup products are tested for long wear and are waterproof. This doesn’t quite apply to more oily skin types which can easily effect the integrity of the makeup. It is recommended to bring oil blotting sheets and or touch up powder to address oily areas of the face. Lips are another aspect to keep in mind that will likely need touch ups throughout the day after eating and drinking.

Q: How long does makeup application take?

A: A full face of makeup with lashes typically takes around 45 minutes. Bridal makeup will take about 1 hour. Times are approximate depending on the makeup look.

Q: Do you travel and how do travel fees work?

A: Yes! Travel fees apply to distances 20 miles or more outside of zip code 55423. This includes traveling to your location for a makeup trial. Charity is happy to host a trial out of her home to avoid travel fees. The current federal standard mileage rate is 67 cents per mile and is applied round trip. If a second artist is booked, the same travel fee or a travel time fee may apply to that artist. Please contact CD Makeup Artistry for an exact travel quote.

Q: Is it ok if I have two get-ready locations?

A: Yes. There is a flat relocation fee of $40 for CD Makeup Artistry to pack-up from the first location, travel to a second location, re-set up and continue with the makeup schedule. This is separate from any travel fee that may apply.

Q: Is there a fee for parking?

A: The bride or client is responsible for any parking charges that occur on the day of services. Said fee will be verbalized outside of the original invoice.

Q: Can you do large parties?

A: Yes! In the event of parties larger than 8 people, or with an earlier requested deadline, an additional artist may be brought in. Charity has a trusted small team of talented makeup artists she’s worked closely with over the years.

Q: Is there a wedding day service minimum?

A: Yes. 3 full services (including the bride) is the minimum required to book. The remainder of the details are explained in the CD Makeup Artistry contract.

Q: What are your sanitation practices?

A: Even before Covid-19, sanitation has always been a number one priority and regular practice for CD Makeup Artistry. A new set of brushes are used for every single client. Disposables such as mascara wands, lip wands, q-tips, eyeliner brushes and toothpicks for eyelash glue are always used once and disposed of. Cream products are sampled with a sanitized spatula and applied to a disposable palette topper. Powder products are sanitized between uses and alcohol is used to sanitize lip products or eyeliner pencils after being sharpened. Hand sanitizer is used between every client and after phone use.

Q: Do you do airbrush?

A: No, at this time CD Makeup Artistry does not offer airbrush.

Q: Do you curl eyelashes?

A: Unfortunately not. This is a service CD Makeup Artistry does not offer due to risk of injury around the eye. If you tend to have straighter eyelashes, or prefer them curled with your makeup look, this is something you may do yourself beforehand.

Q: Do I need to provide or bring anything?

A: No! CD Makeup Artistry’s kit will provide you with everything you need- from any shade range, to a vast supply of eyelashes, etc. If there is a specific product you’d like to bring to incorporate in your look, by all means!

Q: Can I bring my own eyelashes?

A: Absolutely! However, the $15 lash charge still applies for application.

Q: Do you do hair?

A: Unfortunately not, though you may inquire about recommendations!

Q: Which methods of payment do you accept?

A: CD Makeup Artistry accepts Cash, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App or personal checks (there is an additional $5 convenience fee for personal checks).
